Tate Britain explores the radical creativity of a defining decade with The 90s: Art and Fashion.
Opening in Autumn 2026, the landmark exhibition brings together more than 100 photographs, paintings, sculptures and garments by nearly 70 artists, photographers and designers who transformed Britain’s cultural landscape. Curated by Edward Enninful OBE, the show traces the decade’s evolution from the raw, anti-fashion aesthetic of Corinne Day and Juergen Teller to the provocative visions of Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and the Young British Artists. Through imagery documenting underground club culture, acid house, jungle and queer nightlife, alongside works confronting race, class, identity and national belonging, the exhibition examines the tensions beneath the era’s celebrated optimism and ‘Cool Britannia’ spirit. Featuring influential figures including Tracey Emin, Steve McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Nick Knight, The 90s: Art and Fashion reconsiders a period defined by experimentation, rebellion and cultural change, revealing its enduring influence on contemporary art, fashion and British identity.
On view at Tate Britain from 8 October 2026 - 14 February 2026.
